Candle Care Guidelines

You’ve made a purchase, now let’s make the most of it.
Here’s a simple care outline:

1) Trim wicks to 1/4” after each use
2) Burn for 3-4 hours on first use
3) Burn between 1-4 hours on subsequent use

Our Explanation

Wick Trimming: Many don’t know that there are ways to optimize performance, enhance safety, and elongate the lifespan of a candle. Here’s a crash course: The hotter a candle burns, the greater the melt pool and the faster wax is consumed. The simplest way to regulate this consumption rate is to trim wicks after each use, down to 1/4 of an inch. Any mushrooming on the wick will also increase the heat output and consumption rate of the wick and trimming wicks between uses will mitigate mushrooming as well.

Burn Time: We’ve selected a buttery-soft coco-apricot wax to be used for each of our candles because of it’s consistent performance and forgiveness when it comes to tunneling. Still, it’s recommended that the first burn of your candle is 3 - 4 hours in length. It is normal for jars to retain marginal hangup of wax on sidewalls early in the candle’s life-cycle. Still, we recommend steering clear of short burn times to avoid tunneling or pooling, as well as avoiding extra-long burns to avoid wick mushrooming, soot output, and over-consumption of wax.
